My name is Lisa Levine Sporer.
As a Speech Language Pathologist, I have chosen to specialize in neurologic rehabilitation, meaning I am skilled in the areas surrounding brain injury that affect a person’s ability to effectively communicate, who may have cognitive impairments, and who may have difficulty swallowing. I do not work with childhood language development, as these proficiencies do not overlap.
I treat people who have had strokes and who have aphasia or dysarthria; I treat people who have had traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and who have communication and cognitive disorders; I treat people who have an array of other neurologic diseases such as Parkinson’s Disease or early stage Alzheimer’s Disease/Dementia which impact one’s ability to speak and think.
Home-based, work-based, or community-based, functional therapy differentiates my scope of practice; for participation in life. I live in Palo Alto and treat patients within a reasonable drive time around Stanford Medical Center. I truly believe that continuing with speech and language therapy for an extended period of time allows a person the opportunity to improve the quality of her or his life.
Recovery begins at the darkest moment. – John Major
